Signs of ancient flowing water on Mars


Was there life on Mars? Scientifically speaking, this theory is far from proved yet. However, these NASA composite  images provide strong evidence about  the flow of water in ancient times. 55gb file with 7.5 years of openstreetmap bulk gps data now available

1st of April posts don’t get the attention they should and this one here is such a case, as OpenStreetMap Foundation claim it is the largest GPS dataset ever published.

The above heatmap (by Flick member stevefaeembra) shows a random sample of only 1% of the points and their distribution. Imagine what the entire 2.8 billion points heatmap would look like.
Also, Central Europe (once again) looks like the centre of the world…

a man’s head on different map projections

I find these figures very helpful in understanding the amount and type of distortion introduced by some major map projections. Do you notice how the Mercator projection is distorting shapes near the poles? Have that in mind the next time you navigate in Google maps…
